I've been out of this blogging game for a while now, but I'm back...well at least until I get lazy again.

Look for my top ten's coming soon - although I am having a hard time coming up with it.

On top of my movie list will probably be Return of the King.  Seeing tomorrow at 1:00 PM, can't f'ing wait.   Check out Rotten Tomato's overview of the incredibly high rating this movie is getting across the board.   If it is anything less then one of the best movies I have ever seen I will be greatly disappointed.

Check out this shot and others from next summer's big disaster movie "The Day After Tomorrow" from the losers who brought us the big disappointments Godzilla and ID4.  link via JoBlo.

I hope someday we get to hear these, because the songs the Coldplay throw away are probably way better then most of the songs other bands put out these days. (As witnessed by the high quality of B-sides and excellent songs that they never released (ex. "Harmless" - use your favorite file sharing program of choice to look that one up.)  From the NME "Exclusive - Coldplay scrap four albums!"  Also make sure to pick up the new Coldplay Live 2003 DVD and CD - I haven't watched it yet, but I've heard it's very well done - now available cheap at your favorite electronics conglomerate.  You can see clips online here. Unfortunately it's not in the widescreen goodness as on the DVD.

Reminder: The Strokes begin their Tuesday night residency on Conan O'Brein. Sadly it's only for the month of November. Also check out lastnite.org, always a good source of live strokes, at least 'til their bandwith runs out. Check out this show from the new and excellent "Room on Fire Tour. Update - they played the excellent "Reptilla" If you don't already have the CD - what the hell are you waiting for?

Finally I am adding my Strokes pics from last Sundays concert - which, btw,
rocked.

The Strokes =  Amazing Show? I was not expecting the Strokes to put on such a great show.  When I heard they were coming to chi-town I wasn't even totally interested in going, but with my cousins urging I decided to check 'em out.   Why not - "It This It?" did become on of my favorite CDs of the past few years and I love to read the Strokes latest shenanigans in the NME (their favorite band.)   My apprehensions where because I've heard that their are kind of aloof onstage and don't really interact with the audience.  I'm tired of going to boring ass-shows.   But then again their new CD rocks and has been in CD player for 90% of the past few weeks and after reading whatevs glowing review my expectations were high.    But my expectations were blown away by hearing their songs live and seeing the amount of feeling/energy they put in to it.  OK Nick and Nicoli are basically nailed to the stage, but luckily for us we standing in front of Albert and who not only looked, but also acted like he had been getting electric shocks  throughout the show.   Julian was singing his heart out and the crowd is into all the songs, even the new ones.  Of course the biggest crowd bouncing songs were Last Night and Someday, but NYC Cops and theModernAge did get the everyone jumping or jamming.   What's up with Albert spitting giant luggies straight up into the air?  I'm sure a few of them landed in his wild mane.   Highly Recommended!   The wifey played stealth and snuck in the digicam for me, hence I finally got to take some good pictures at a show.   Check some of 'em out out below.  click on any of them to see all the pics I took. Pictures back up soon - hopefully they'll actually work this time

Talk about "Ripped from the Headlines", Kevin James (from the very Funny King of Queens, is going to play a character based on Steve Bartman, better known as the poor guy who cost the Cubbies the chance at going to the World Series.  I feel sorry for the guy, a split second decision/reaction has put his life in turmoil.

From the same site.  Pictures from the upcoming Antoine Fuqua/Jerry Bruckheimer movie "King Arthur."  I ask you, why do people find Keira Knightley so hot?

This weekend it's the excellent double bill of the Strokes and "their Southern Counterparts" the Kings of Leon at the Aragon in Chicago.  Uncle Grambo over at the excellent whatevs posted a glowing review (not really a review, but whatevs.)   I can't wait, because not only I have I not been to a show since Coldplay let me down in early in the summer, I really like both bands and the Strokes new CD is blowing me away.   I read somewhere that "Is This It?" hasn't even gone platinum over here, wtf, Kelly Clarkson is probably double plat. by now!!   On the Strokes site they mentioned they had to change the venue due to "technical conflicts" aka - we didn't sell enough tickets to play at the UIC Pavillion.   All the better for the fans since the Aragon is great and the UIC Pavillion sucks.   It's not too surprising either especially since the new CD hasn't even come on yet.  Can't wait till it does.  Check out the Tron/Last Night inspired video for "12:51" at the Strokes site (look  in the music channel.)

A whole bunch of interesting movie news via JoBlo.com

Richie Cunningham to direct the Da Vinci Code. The Beautiful Mind Producer/Director/Writer team heads up this production. It's going to be interesting who will be cast as Langdon.

Spike Jones's next to be a horror movie. He's teaming up with Charlie Kaufman again too!

Ice Cube to replace Vin Diesel in XXX-2 Interesting - could be kind of cool if they don't recycle the first movie too much. Could this be a franchise for rappers? Could you see DMX, 50 Cent, or even Eminem as secret agent with street smarts and bad-ass attitude. (I sure hope not.)

Click the pic to read about Tarantino and the upcoming (I can't f'ing wait) KILL BILL. (link courtesy of whatevs)

I was chatting with my buddy zerohk the other day and we were discussing British 90's bands who still have it.  He mentioned Radiohead and Blur.   I added to that list Travis who is becoming one of my top bands of all time (this list is quite exclusive and doesn't really change that much.)   Not only have all 3 of their albums been great, they put out a plethora of amazing bsides and covers, put on a great live show with the a lot of energy and interaction with the audience, and their new CD '12 Memories' is great.   Miss Modernage mentioned how much she likes them even though "it's tragically un-hip to love Travis" (?)    I've been on a serious Travis kick lately (in preparation to seeing them this Halloween.)   Been listening to them (and the new Strokes) non-stop.   I read a excellent article about them here (it's a pdf) and it has a great quote from Fran that sums up what is so great about them.

"There’s a honesty about our songs. A guy told me the other day his friend had committed suicide and they played Sing at his funeral. Our songs help people though a hard time, they ’re a fast cab out of a bad situation. When you talk to them people rarely ever want to say any more than ‘thanks’.  You never get stopped, no weird shit. We’re not a badge-wearer band. If you like Radiohead or REM it says something about you – you ’re a bit intellectual, you ’re a bit leftfield but you’re not saying anything about yourself by liking Travis.  Which is why we ’ve never appealed to the elite.  But everyone, generally, all over the world feels the same things, they mourn, they have joy, they have love and loss, and there’s something about Travis that has a resonance."

disgusting!!!Since I'm taking about a band that is most excellent  Let me give some equal time to bands that are pure shite.   Two on my hit list today are the Darkness and IMA Robot.   Both are retro bands that take things a little (no scratch that WAY) too far.   The Darkness chose to replicate 80's heavy metal with a lot of Freddie Mercury thrown in.   I first saw their video on MTV2's Subterranean and thought isn't this show about alternative music?  The Darkness sound like a very bad AC/DC with a cat screaming over the God-forsaken music.    What I can't believe is that they are very popular, they had their debut CD on top of the British CD charts, they played well received festival dates and now they have sold out their next UK tour.   What's also puzzling is that they are destined to do the same here.  They recently played some shows to star-studded audiences.   Julia Stiles, for God sakes, was seen raising a clenched fist close to the front of the stage at their NYC gig.  wft?

Next up is IMA Robot.   When the Darkness choice late 70's/early 80's heavy metal, IMA Robot went with 80's new wave.     I saw them on MTV2 as well.  (maybe the reason why I don't like these bands is how ridiculous they look.)   IMA Robot is made up of Beck's backing band and a lead singer whose fashion sense taken straight from Flock of Seagulls videos.    In the new issue of Spin he is wearing (and I kid you not) paisley high waters.    I know fashion is cyclical, but that fashion statement has NOT come back yet, and hopefully never will.    OK, their website design rocks and their music is not nearly as bad as the Darkness, but they seem like such a gimmick.  Like when the started the band they made a conscious decision to copy 80's new wave bands.   Weak I tell you Weak.

Am I ironic or just stupid?

The Pharrell Williams Movie?

Details of the new Coldplay Live DVD are emerging. The Tour Documentary spoke of in the article could be thing the bassist was filming. Can't wait for this one.

Children of Zion!!!!

Radio 1 - my favorite radio station of all time - kicking the ass of any stations on XM - brings it again.  Not only do they let people listen to a weeks worth of shows but they stream a lot of their excellent one off events.  This time it's the One Big Weekend in Cardiff - that's in Wales for you geographically un-inclined.   There was the Dance Day featuring the Chems, Basement Jaxx (look for excellent new CD coming soon), Seb Fontaine and others.   And there was the pop/rock day featuring Travis (yeah!!), the Thrills, the Darkness (boooo!!!), Dido, and Pink.   You can stream sets from many of these artists right now, but hurry up since I don't know how long they will be available.   Travis is going to be in the Live Lounge on Tuesday, Sept 30th, so make sure the check back and listen to the interview and performance.    On remember the Chemicals greatest hits is out next week, the 30th, I can't wait to get the DVD.

forget Chris Martin - this is he niceist guy in rock

This site has been neglected for a while, sorry for any of you who actually read this site.

Hopefully I will get back on track, but I could never be as diligent as some of the blogs I read daily: whatevs.org and themodernage

Check out the new South site, and pick up the new CD on Tuesday - only in the US, sorry for those in the UK who don't get a release until next year.  But you can listen to the whole CD now from this VH1 site.

I am finally going to some shows. First the mighty the Strokes with the almost as mighty 'Southern Strokes' Kings of Leon opening at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. I am psyched since I have never seen the Strokes live and I want to see if they and the Kings can deliver live as they can surely deliver on record. Hopefully I can download the new Strokes CD, "Rom on Fire" and become familiar with the new songs before the show as the CD doesn't come out until a few days after I see them.   Until then I will listen to '12:51' ad naseum.

Also I am really psyched to see Travis, on Halloween in Toronto. Not only am I happy to see them in Toronto (the crowd is always better then in Chicago) at the Hummingbird Centre, but with my excellent web skills I was able to acquire 4th row seats for all 4 of us through Ticketbastard. First time I am seeing a show in a seated hall so close up and the third time I am seeing Travis. Excellent new CD btw comes out Oct 14th.

I am upgrading my digicam to the Canon A70. Can't wait to take some panoramic and night shots. I would love to get a picture I took on this site: DigitalPhotoContest.com
Hopefully I'll be sneaking this into some upcoming shows.  sssshhhh.

Elated and Gutted:  This describes my feelings as I found out that the Bluetones are actually coming to this side of the pond, but only playing 3 shows none of which I can attend.  I've been into them since '95 and they have only ever played 2 shows here before.   You can download the video of the excellent song 'Never Going Nowhere' here.

Sad news about John Ritter (he's dead)

More sad news - Johnny Cash dead. It's a shame that his video for "Closer" didn't get the recognition that it deserved at this years VMA. It was a good thing that he wasn't at the show.

12 Memories - Soon to be close to the top of my best of 2003 list

Travis US tour.  I really hope I can go to one of these dates. Their new upcoming single 'Re-offender' is amazing.  View the video here

OK, even though I bad mouthed Coldplay yesterday, I cannot wait for this. November 11th marks the day a live CD/DVD comes out from a Sydney Horden Pavilion performances from July 22nd and 23rd. Read all about it here.

Who do these guys in Coldplay think they are? First Chris beats up the car of a photographer who is snapping pics of Chris attempting to surf in wetsuit and now the drummer, Will Champion, is suing his neighbor for accidently taking his cab. Remember when they used to be the nicest guys in rock? I guess being the best band in the world according to Justin Timberlake has gone to their heads.

I am still pissed that I didn't get to see Radiohead this tour "yet" since the show I as going to see has been indefinately postponed. Reason - the Great Blackout of 2003. Anyway there is a large amount of boots from this tour available and this just might tide me over to when I get to see them again finally. One is available here Radiohead 08-13-03, The Tweeter Center, Mansfield MA. ENJOY!

The BBC is thinking about making all of it's broadcast content availble on the web. TV and Radio. This would be amazing. I am already loving the Radio 1 and 6 Music weekly archieves, but having all radio and TV available, and for free is the the bestest. Read about it here.

I guess this is the week for me posting about videos available on the net, first the excellent Freeland video, then Kate Moss pole-dancing, then the Star Wars Kid, and finally the new magnificent video for the beautiful Chemical Brothers song with Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips "The Golden Path".   Check out the video, some of which I can find very relatable.   The song comes from The Chemical's soon to be released greatest hits package.   View details here.   What is really cool is that they are releasing a DVD of videos too.  Let's hope it's all their videos and not (like the some what disappointing Beastie Boys Criterion Video Anthology) just some of their videos.   Also from the link some live stuff is going to be on there.   And on the subject of the Lips, they are releasing their excellent 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots' CD as DVD-Audio disc with DVD video disc full of videos.  (Released on the same day as the Chemicals disc - September 23rd.)   Details here.

Have you guy seen 'the Star Wars Kid'?  This poor guy video taped himself performing some Darth Maul like moves with extra long golf club.   Some classmates found this tape and uploaded it to the internet.   Within weeks it became in internet phenom on par and surpassing that dancing baby.    Websites sprung up and many, many people edited the video to create hilarious off shot videos of the original.   Read about the guy here, view many of the videos here, then sign the petition to get this guy a cameo in Episode III.    Sounds like this whole thing is embarrasing 'the Star Wars' kid, but I think it's rather cool.   Maybe a cameo would improve the guys feelings on this whole thing, but I can see George Luca$ being a dickhead about it and feeling like a cameo from this guy would cheapen his movies, like Jar Jar hasn't already done that.

One can hear some live versions (from Japan) of new Strokes songs here. The one labeled Supernova is actually called '12:51' and is going to be the new single.

One can also watch the new White Stripes video of 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself' featuring a very skillful pole dance by Kate Moss here.

Also check out this video by former So Solid Crew MC Dizzee Rascal from 'Fix Up Look Sharp'  The song has already blown up in Europe.

Watch the amazing new video for the amazing new Freeland song 'We Want Your Soul' directed by Happy. A commercial they directed for Wrigley in the UK won the honour of being one of the 'the most complained about ads.'.

How come I haven't heard about this before?   When looking for info on Will Saul after hearing his excellent nu-breaks mix on Annie Nightingale's BBC Radio 1 show, I was trying to find out about the guy on the great reference site allmusic.   I entered his name and got back Saul Williams - the excellent spoken word artist and actor/writer of the pretty cool movie Slam.   Anyway I saw that Saul (as in Williams) had released a EP this year.  When reading the review I saw that you can download it for free from this site: Not In Our Name Music.   I have heard The Pledge before since it's the from the beginning of the most excellent Essential Mix of the year, so far.  Anyway check out the cool site and download the mp3s including remixes from DJ Spooky and Coldcut.

Nice new redesign of the Kings Of Leon official site. Not much new content except for tour info.

Here's a link to Jason Lee's and some dude named Chris Pastras new skateboarding company Stereo There are some cool pictures of a Stereo art show in Stockholm featuring Lee. I might be mistaken, but didn't Jason say in interviews that he had given up skateboarding? Is the picture below Jason and director Terry Gilliam?
I don't think that's him.

Excellent news for Travis fans.  Courtesy of NME.  Fran has stated that a single ('Re-Offender") is due late September and the album ("12 MEMORIES") is due in October.   Can't wait, it feels like it's been forever since "The Invisible Band" came out.   Can't wait to see them on tour again.

In Radiohead news:  I finally got my tickets for the Toronto show through W.A.S.T.E. - there were not as good as I was hoping for but I am still glad that I got tickets, especially after seeing how much tickets to this sold-out show are going for on eBay.   Radiohead news that is a little more important to everyone else is that they played 'Creep' at a show in Japan over the weekend.   I think the last time they played it was at the homecoming show in South Park, Oxford in 2001.   You can download the version from this weekend here.

Village Voice article on the rise of Indians in the media.   Link courtesy of anil dash.   Some interesting info on there like the misrepresentation most of the media gives to Indians, Mira Nair venture into family sitcom for ABC Family, and Raje Shwari - a new Timberland protégé (featured on this week's Bobby Friction and Nihal Radio 1 show.)  Unfortunately no mention of my favorite Indian-American actor (Kal Penn), who usually plays stereotypical roles, but is still funny as hell.

First Clay now Ruben.  OK many of us have known this for a while now, but I just have to restate it ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE SUCKS!

My cousin, who is taking the NY Bar exam as I write this, gave me a heads up on some sweet new Stussy t-shirts from their Customade line.   It's been years since I looked into Stussy, it's probably been since college (yeah that long ago) since I sprang for some new Stussy gear.   I used to rock my green Stussy-logo baseball hat all around campus, and I even still sport a red Irie-Tribe 'T that I think has '91 printed somewhere on it.   (OK from that fact you know they make quality stuff and their designs are dope as hell.)   Well their new ones really are dope - bringing back some of the classic eras of hip-hop's golden ages.   Similar to the ones I have here there is a '88 Vapors and '94 Hypnotize (OK that last one is questionable)    The Cream and Scenario shirt are classics, but the Humpty nose and sunglasses is my favorite.   Check the site and see for yourself.

Finally more and more info is trickling out about the new Free*land (or Freeland) CD from Nu-Breaks DJ extraordinaire Adam Freeland.    OK he has been playing the first (excellent) single 'We Want Your Soul' for the better part of a year now in his live and radio mixes, but now it really seems to be blowing up everywhere (England that is.)   It's been played to death on Annie Nightingales show, but now Zane (and I think Zoe Ball) have named it 'single of the week'.   Other tracks have leaked out recently on other Radio 1 shows.   One World had the excellent 'Mindkiller' on a couple weeks ago and "Big Wednesday' was released on the Animatrix soundtrack, but really since the live stuff Freeland did on Lamacq's show and the live showcase on One World, but  for people who have not been able to experience the (from what I've heard amazing) live show, we have not really heard much else.    And then finally... the excellent Marine Parade site has been updated.   Info on the video for 'We Want Your Soul' and the album are up.   The single is release on September 1 and the CD 'Now & Them' is coming out soon after on September 25th.   Then I come across a couple ebay listings for the promos of the CD and the Single.   Both with tracklistings and cover art.    I doubt that I'll win the auction for either of these items, but I hope that none of you outbid me.    I can't wait to buy and hear the new CD.  I expect big this from Freeland based on the excellent stuff that Adam has put out before in forms of remixes, mix cds, live mixes, radio mixes and on his magnificent label, Marine Parade.   I urge people interested to check out the label site and download some of the amazing mixes available as mp3s from not just Adam, but label-mates ILS and Evil Nine who also have new stuff coming out soon.   Hopefully the video will be up there soon as well as the amazing Essential Mix that Adam did in May that was should have been up on the site by now.  Make sure to check it out.

Damon agrees with me about "Crazy Beat."

Although this is kind of old news now I thought this picture was pretty funny.

Other cool news is that the creator of the excellent blog themodernage got published in NME.com (info courtesy of whatevs)

In strange celebrity news: (courtesy of imdb)
British star Kate Beckinsale has pulled out of several promotional interviews for her new movie Underworld - fearing questions about her relationship with the film's director Len Wiseman. Brunette Beckinsale left her partner - and father of daughter Lily - Michael Sheen in January for Wiseman, and the pair are now engaged. And the Pearl Harbor star also canceled a high-profile Maxim cover shoot, reportedly embarrassing her publicist Lisa Kasteler so much she sent flowers to apologize to the magazine's West Coast editor Claudia Nicolayevsky. Kasteler has now parted company with Beckinsale.
Damn, that Maxim issue would have been nice.

Here's a nice promotional site from what must me some kind of promotion or management company. Check out the Big Hassle. You can read bio's and download high-res promo pics of Badly Drawn Boy, Kings of Leon, BRMC, the Strokes, Rooney, Radio 4, and many many others.

Dark Horizons has some news about the new alternate ending of 28 Days Later being shown after the credits roll of the movie.

"28 Days Later: US fans of the currently playing Danny Boyle zombie flick may have new reason to head back into theatres. Here's the latest news from 'Sax Russell the Green': "On Wednesday I received an email from Fox announcing that 28 days after the release of 28 Days Later they would be releasing an extra reel to be attached to the film. For those lucky viewers who sat through the regular film as well as the credits would see a simple title card appear after the credits end. The card will read "What if...?" and then an alternate ending to the film will play. It runs for a little over four minutes and will be a much darker ending than the original". Thanks also to "SWERJ' & 'Ovi'"

Good thing I haven't seen it yet.

Mediaeater has some nice images from some Robot exhibit in NYC.

Cover art of new South CD.New official South site to coincide with the upcoming release of their new CD "With the Tides"   Check it out since you can hear the excellent new single "Loosen Your Hold."  the CD is going to be released at the end of August.  From the sound of the single and from talk on the livebetweenthelines message board it sounds as if they have dropped the Lavelle influence.

More on the crazy hype about the Kings: 2003.07.11 Astoria Show Review and the KOL EPK
I love how the NME gets behind fresh young bands and then acts like they are the greatest thing in the world.

OK, I am seriously pissed. My family and I moved from the 'burbs of Chicago to Kalamazoo, MI last summer for job reasons. I am seriously missing living near a city that has good concerts. Of course when living near Chicago I never took full advantage of all the shows there, I could never attend as many shows as the NYC blogger crew does (see themodernage and braquage for examples) but I did see my fair share of excellent shows. Of course now living in the middle of nowhere (not really but it feels like it) I constantly see listing of bands that I love or bands that I am discovering coming to places like the Metro, Abbey Pub, or Double Door. I really wanted to see the Coral earlier this year, I really liked their Zappa-ess debut CD and know I am really loving the new single 'Pass it On'. So just now I was looking up some stuff on them when I can across a review of the show I wanted to attend and would have if I lived near Chicago. Kings of Leon + The Coral - PopMatters Concert Review So not only did I miss the Coral, but I missed seeing what I think will be the hottest new band this year. I already missed the Strokes opening for Doves at this small venue two years ago. Oh well. At least I got to see my hero Richard Ashcroft there.

Some really cool Coldplay stuff on Radio 1 this week.   First of all Steve Lamacq has a nice half-hour documentary titled: The Ticking Of Clocks: Coldplay In America, there is an uncut interview with Chris Martin from which sound-bites make up some of the doc.   And lastly there is Lamacq Live from Monday where part of Coldplay's set from this past weekend show at the T in the Park Festival up in Scotland.   New Coldplay song 'Moses' is included.    Some interesting stuff in the doc and interview, The talk about how great the Hollywood Bowl shows were and which celebs showed up, Chris kind of addresses him and his 'high-profile' girl friend, Chris talks about the new songs and how they aren't going to be playing anymore since the ones they have played all get out on the internet instantly and they want to save the really good ones until later.  (can't wait for the new album.)    But one thing I found puzzling is that Chris mentions how even though they play the game of kiss-ass with radio stations they haven't sold out by doing adverts.    If they haven't done adverts who exactly is the band playing over a ton of HBO spots.   'Yellow' was pretty prominent in a ABC networks promos advertising their show line-up a couple years ago and now 'Clocks' is featured in the trailer for 'Peter Pan'.   Maybe the band don't know about this. (I read in this review on a St. Louis show from the excellent looking hotandcoldplay
"Once inside, the conversation goes back to American television and I tell them that I've just gotten a call (from my son) to tell me that that night's episode of "Alias" featured one of their songs ("God Put A Smile Upon Your Face.") They had no idea. So I tell them that last week's "ER" featured their song "Clocks". They say they never know when a television show will use their music."
Or maybe like A-list US celebs hawking stuff in Japan they don't consider adds outside of the UK and adverts.   Anyway I think hearing Coldplay songs so much on TV tied to some promotion of some show or movie cheapens their music and I really hope they stop soon.

You can't hear the Coldplay set on the archived Lamacq Live show, but you can check out live songs from Kings of Leon, the Charlatans, and the crappy Darkness.

The excellent picture below can be viewed along with a ton of other excellent shots from the Coldplay show at Red Rocks (played 20 years to the day as U2's legendary show) on this page from this site: the Scientist.

I love live concert photos

reminder this is 2003 not 1967

Could a band like this be the kings (of leon) of cool rock in 2003.   Looks like with the buzz building in the UK (and of course in NME) that they will be.  The NME review stated that their new CD 'Youth and Manhood' is the best debut since 'Is This It?'      I do agree some songs are great rockers, not sure if I really like the CD, but it took me a couple months to like the Strokes, after I got over how retro they sounded.     Just like the Strokes they sound retro although taking a different musical style as a source (Southern rock instead of NYC new-wave garage) and just like the Strokes they have the right UK pop icons going to their shows.   Unlike most bands the NME hypes I agree that they will become popular.   Check 'em out on left cost Lolla' shows.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Reason #1 We have a new beautiful baby daughter. Reason #2 A complete lack of sleep.

I am listening to the new UNKLE CD right now, it's pretty good, and I'm sure it's a grower. Check out this Mixmag cover article in full

So Glasto 2003 is over, looks and sounds like it was a great success.   Looks spectators didn't see a lot of rumors pan out like a live acoustic set by festival go-er Noel Gallagher, a performance by Paul McCartney, or Wayne from the Flaming Lips singing his song with the Chemical Brothers, people did get to see Bez jump on stage during the Rapture's performance of 'House of Jealous Lovers'.    At first I thought that it was strange then I recalled how the new Punk/Rock//Dance scene and how it happened years ago with bands like the Stone Roses and of course the Mondays.   The 22-20's and Kings of Leon got the best star turnouts with Travis, Doves, and Primal Scream turning out for the Kings and the always gorgeous Kate Moss the 22-20's.  Radiohead, Doves, Super Furries, etc, etc seem to have played excellent sets.  I am going to forget my dreams of Coachella and concentrate on getting to Glasto soon.

Also NME has an funny Glastonbury survey.   How about a survey for people who only experienced this years glasto from updates on NME, dotmusic and listening to Radio 1.

NME.com is accepting votes on which poster to include in the July 12th issue.  Some of them are pretty cool.  But 3 Har Mar shots, please no more.
