Damn, I would love to be able to go to this show since I've been really into their new CD for a couple weeks now. I think it's much better then the new Maximo Park. But I already have tickets in hand to see Doves and Kasabian, both around the same time. (Wouldn't mind seeing LCD and Mia too.)

Bloc Party this weekend was good. The crowd at the Opera House was not into it as I thought they would be. That and because there was a really annoying guy in front of me are two reasons why it was not excellent. The idiot was doing a dance that could only be described as interpretive. (I interpreted it as "I am a loser!") He was only doing it to impress a girl, who was lapping it up. The music played was excellent (sweet versions of Banquet and Positive Tension). The drummer has to be one of the best I've seen. The band didn't interact with the audience that much, since for one thing, the mics were muffling their voice and they probably were mumbling too. It was the first time being at the Opera House and I really didn't like that the stage is so low, I could not even see the instruments. Short set - pre encore was about 35 mintues) But it was great to hear the CD live.

Many new interesting things to post about espec since I haven't posted in over 1 year.   Anyway on the the goodness:

Google Maps & Google Local - this has to be one of the coolest web tools ever. I want to know who was on the team that was able to create such a cool ass tool. Give them some serious money, well the work for google so maybe they already have that. The way you can zoom in a get to the real detail is amazing as is the way you can click and drag the map to find out what else is around. Check it out and play around, I'll give you $5 if you are not amazed (not really).

Photoblogs - God, how I love them. I wish I could take pictures like these, is it just because I have a point and shoot vs their Digi SLRs, or is it because they have a God given talent of a great eye and some creative flair, something I hope one day to grow. there are too many good ones to list, but check here for a great list broken into nice categories and check one this one, no traces - quickly becoming my favorite.

more stuff to follow....maybe.

I've been out of this blogging game for a while now, but I'm back...well at least until I get lazy again.

Look for my top ten's coming soon - although I am having a hard time coming up with it.

On top of my movie list will probably be Return of the King.  Seeing tomorrow at 1:00 PM, can't f'ing wait.   Check out Rotten Tomato's overview of the incredibly high rating this movie is getting across the board.   If it is anything less then one of the best movies I have ever seen I will be greatly disappointed.

Check out this shot and others from next summer's big disaster movie "The Day After Tomorrow" from the losers who brought us the big disappointments Godzilla and ID4.  link via JoBlo.

I hope someday we get to hear these, because the songs the Coldplay throw away are probably way better then most of the songs other bands put out these days. (As witnessed by the high quality of B-sides and excellent songs that they never released (ex. "Harmless" - use your favorite file sharing program of choice to look that one up.)  From the NME "Exclusive - Coldplay scrap four albums!"  Also make sure to pick up the new Coldplay Live 2003 DVD and CD - I haven't watched it yet, but I've heard it's very well done - now available cheap at your favorite electronics conglomerate.  You can see clips online here. Unfortunately it's not in the widescreen goodness as on the DVD.

Reminder: The Strokes begin their Tuesday night residency on Conan O'Brein. Sadly it's only for the month of November. Also check out lastnite.org, always a good source of live strokes, at least 'til their bandwith runs out. Check out this show from the new and excellent "Room on Fire Tour. Update - they played the excellent "Reptilla" If you don't already have the CD - what the hell are you waiting for?
