I am still pissed that I didn't get to see Radiohead this tour "yet" since the show I as going to see has been indefinately postponed. Reason - the Great Blackout of 2003. Anyway there is a large amount of boots from this tour available and this just might tide me over to when I get to see them again finally. One is available here Radiohead 08-13-03, The Tweeter Center, Mansfield MA. ENJOY! The BBC is thinking about making all of it's broadcast content availble on the web. TV and Radio. This would be amazing. I am already loving the Radio 1 and 6 Music weekly archieves, but having all radio and TV available, and for free is the the bestest. Read about it here. I guess this is the week for me posting about videos available on the net, first the excellent Freeland video, then Kate Moss pole-dancing, then the Star Wars Kid, and finally the new magnificent video for the beautiful Chemical Brothers song with Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips "The Golden Path". Check out the video, some of which I can find very relatable. The song comes from The Chemical's soon to be released greatest hits package. View details here. What is really cool is that they are releasing a DVD of videos too. Let's hope it's all their videos and not (like the some what disappointing Beastie Boys Criterion Video Anthology) just some of their videos. Also from the link some live stuff is going to be on there. And on the subject of the Lips, they are releasing their excellent 'Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots' CD as DVD-Audio disc with DVD video disc full of videos. (Released on the same day as the Chemicals disc - September 23rd.) Details here.
Have you guy seen 'the Star Wars Kid'? This poor guy video taped himself performing some Darth Maul like moves with extra long golf club. Some classmates found this tape and uploaded it to the internet. Within weeks it became in internet phenom on par and surpassing that dancing baby. Websites sprung up and many, many people edited the video to create hilarious off shot videos of the original. Read about the guy here, view many of the videos here, then sign the petition to get this guy a cameo in Episode III. Sounds like this whole thing is embarrasing 'the Star Wars' kid, but I think it's rather cool. Maybe a cameo would improve the guys feelings on this whole thing, but I can see George Luca$ being a dickhead about it and feeling like a cameo from this guy would cheapen his movies, like Jar Jar hasn't already done that. One can hear some live versions (from Japan) of new Strokes songs here. The one labeled Supernova is actually called '12:51' and is going to be the new single. One can also watch the new White Stripes video of 'I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself' featuring a very skillful pole dance by Kate Moss here. Also check out this video by former So Solid Crew MC Dizzee Rascal from 'Fix Up Look Sharp' The song has already blown up in Europe. Tuesday, August 19, 2003
Watch the amazing new video for the amazing new Freeland song 'We Want Your Soul' directed by Happy. A commercial they directed for Wrigley in the UK won the honour of being one of the 'the most complained about ads.'. Wednesday, August 13, 2003
How come I haven't heard about this before? When looking for info on Will Saul after hearing his excellent nu-breaks mix on Annie Nightingale's BBC Radio 1 show, I was trying to find out about the guy on the great reference site allmusic. I entered his name and got back Saul Williams - the excellent spoken word artist and actor/writer of the pretty cool movie Slam. Anyway I saw that Saul (as in Williams) had released a EP this year. When reading the review I saw that you can download it for free from this site: Not In Our Name Music. I have heard The Pledge before since it's the from the beginning of the most excellent Essential Mix of the year, so far. Anyway check out the cool site and download the mp3s including remixes from DJ Spooky and Coldcut. Nice new redesign of the Kings Of Leon official site. Not much new content except for tour info. Here's a link to Jason Lee's and some dude named Chris Pastras new skateboarding company Stereo There are some cool pictures of a Stereo art show in Stockholm featuring Lee. I might be mistaken, but didn't Jason say in interviews that he had given up skateboarding? Is the picture below Jason and director Terry Gilliam? Monday, August 04, 2003
Excellent news for Travis fans. Courtesy of NME. Fran has stated that a single ('Re-Offender") is due late September and the album ("12 MEMORIES") is due in October. Can't wait, it feels like it's been forever since "The Invisible Band" came out. Can't wait to see them on tour again. In Radiohead news: I finally got my tickets for the Toronto show through W.A.S.T.E. - there were not as good as I was hoping for but I am still glad that I got tickets, especially after seeing how much tickets to this sold-out show are going for on eBay. Radiohead news that is a little more important to everyone else is that they played 'Creep' at a show in Japan over the weekend. I think the last time they played it was at the homecoming show in South Park, Oxford in 2001. You can download the version from this weekend here. |
